This is at least a half day or a full day activity How deep is the water? Approximately one foot for the water component of the adventure – not all the activity is water related. Can younger children participate? Absolutely, with parental guidance (parents must accompany children) Here is a description of a fun day of prospecting for gold: I woke up early and packed my gear: a pan, a shovel and a bucket. I drove to the creek where I had spotted some gold flakes before. I set up and started digging. I scooped some gravel into my pan and swirled it in the water. I saw a glint of gold and smiled. I repeated the process, as I was thinking of nuggets. I scanned the ground for another promising site to explore. I cheered and celebrated this lucky day.

Gaze at the Stars

How long is this activity? 1 to 3 hours What do I need to bring? Bring snacks, blankets, and bug spray. If the night I book is cloudy, can I re-book? Yes!
The night sky is a glittering and peppered with stars, planets, and passing meteors—but most people no longer get to see it. In urban and suburban settings, artificial lighting and atmospheric pollutants wash out the light of the stars. This is a serious loss. For millennia, our ancestors experienced a dark night sky. Cultures around the world told stories about the constellations and used the stars as a calendar. Only for the past few generations have humans been denied the chance to stand in awe of the heavens. Boasting some of the darkest nights in Canada, Lake Superior Provincial Park and surrounding areas are perfect for seeing more stars than you ever thought possible. Note: Lake Superior Park is a designated Dark Sky Preserve.
